The unhampered committee

Derived from internationally accepted emotional standards, the unhampered committee's definition of the rule of law upholds the following two universal principles:

Rule of law

  1. The individuals are allowed to hire only three people. They being 'the person, him and himself'. All entities are accountable under the law.
  2. The laws are clear, publicised, stable and are applied evenly to all the individuals. These laws are made to protect the fundamental core human traits like strength, dignity, self satisfaction, independency, etc.
These principles are further developed and are measured on how the rule of law is experienced by ordinary people around the globe.

The emotional out-turn

Following are the results of how ordinary people reacted for imposing the rules of the unhampered committee.
  • Cried and ran out of the committee in search of companionship.
  • Violent increase in the fundamental need for inclusion in group life.
  • Emotional discomfort and suicidal feeling.
  • Experienced higher levels of cumulative wear and tear.
  • Started writing a diary to pour out the pain caused by solitude.

The Do's and Dont's

  • During an emotional outburst, one is not allowed to lean on someone's shoulder to vent it out.
  • Stress can be released through games, blogs or any other activity that the individual is passionate about. Calling or meeting an outsider strictly doesn't count under these activities.
  • Talking to oneself is well encouraged at the committee.
  • Words like love, compassion, friend, togetherness, intimacy, attachment, bonding are strictly banned from using.
  • If one succeeds in an event and wants to share it to the people he/she knows, the person must request for a "I'm weak" badge and only after approval from the senior authorities, he/she can proceed in sharing.
  • An individual can use only 5 'I'm weak' badges. Exceeding that will have severe consequences.

Breaking the rules

If an individual breaks any of the rules mentioned above, he/she will be severely punished.
  • The person will be pushed to a committee with loving and caring people.
  • 10 people would everyday stay with the person to take care of him/her.
  • Physical gestures of hugs and kisses will be abundantly given for the individual.
  • The person will be expected to show various emotions of love, fear, anger, hate, hope, anxiety, possessiveness, etc.
The rules and consequences are clearly mentioned and won't be changed for anyone. By joining this committee, you will have the benefits of having too much personal space, privacy, loneliness, peace and emotionless stone hearted colleagues.

Quietude

Painting by: Loga Srinivasan

While we ran away from our problems through music, travel and food, she chose to remain in tranquility. There was silence in her room but not in her mind. No matter how quiet the room was, she kept hearing those voices. Voices that never trusted her, that never believed in her, that kept repeating the words "You will never last long!" , "You don't know anything!" , " How is this going to give you food?" , "No time for passion" and what not?

She thought 'If only these voices were fictitious, I wouldn't have crawled under my bed to hide in the darkness'. One day, out of so much rage, she started scribbling on the floor with a black chalk " I can't, I can't, I can't " . Out of no where, some breezy warm wind slowly touched the door of her dull lifeless room. Some intense shaft of light pushed the door and gleamed on her face. It blinded her, but just for few seconds.

During those few seconds of complete darkness, she heard a voice. This time she wasn't sure if it was fictional or real because it sounded just like her. She wondered, how can someone have my exact voice? She was scared, scared that this darkness wont change anymore. But that voice, her voice said "Don't worry. This is just temporary. Stars can't shine without darkness." The voice slowly faded echoing the same words again and again until her vision became clear.

She got a perfect sight of her room, but couldn't believe it,  since it was charged with Shiny bright lights. It was new to her, everything was new. Her room was never this bright, never this peaceful. She thought she was about to hear those voices, but she never heard anything other than her own heartbeat.

When she came out to see where the light came from, a small thing came flying. It was colourful, vibrant and beautiful. She has never seen so many colours in her life. It was a stunning butterfly, it flew straight under her bed. She was scared to go back again under the darkness, but the butterfly was glowing in the dark. She couldn't resist it. She crawled inside to see what was happening. The butterfly sat right on the scribbled unconfident words. When she went closer, she got the picture. Her eyes was filled with tears, she couldn't believe what she was seeing. 'I can't' changed to 'I can' since the butterfly was sitting right on the alphabet 't'. She screamed inside herself, "I can, oh yes I can".

When she was about to reach the heights of confidence, the room started becoming dark again. She was scared, she screamed inside 'Please don't go. No'. When she was trying to figure out why everything was changing, she searched and ran near her door from where the light came in. The source of confidence, was again blocked by so many people. There were people crowding outside the door. Those were the same voices that buried her confidence, who buried her true soul.

She told herself 'This can't be happening again!' , she crawled under her bed to search for the butterfly. It was still in the same place glowing like a shooting star. Her voice, her true soul was screaming inside trying to make way and out stand all the other voices. She was struggling so hard and closed her eyes so tightly. Slowly, her eye brows were getting loose, her head was feeling light, her lips were curving a smile. She opened her eyes, walked confidentially towards the door. She wasn't scared of those voices anymore. She just said 'I can' , pushed all the darkness and started walking towards her light, her source, her true soul. The butterfly followed her pathway.

She got the state of calmness, peace- Her Quietude trait remained forever. She never heard the voices again.

Open that door.

Work life balance

When I travel through public transport, I see a lot of women carrying a lunch box, having their breakfast in a hurry burry, with such sunken eyes. This sight is enough to understand how much they are sacrificing themselves for their family. With so many responsibilities and stress, I wonder how these women balance their work life and personal life.
I'm in this age where I'm about to get so many responsibilities and expected to act matured. Well it is the time, but amongst all the stress and work you have, you must have some fun too. Because firstly, its a stress buster and secondly what's the point of earning money when you can't spend it?
So let's say we work from morning 9 to evening 6, by the time you reach home its going to be 7:00. So by the time you refresh, it will be 7:30. But before starting all the household work that you have, don't forget to donate yourself some 5 minutes to have a cup of coffee or tea with some music that you love to hear.
Those 5 minutes are going to do wonders. Then while doing your work, side by side try watching your favourite serials or movies, listen to some good songs and dance for the beats then and there.
This way, it will make your job easy plus fun. But before all that, try to convince your family members that when you are doing so much for them, they shouldn't mind you having some fun. After all its your life and you have to do it your way.
Also in work place, it is indeed stressful but in between go for breaks and have a chat with your colleagues. Or call up your friend and have a small talk. This is definitely help you out.
And Saturdays, beneath all the work that you did, somehow manage to overcome your laziness and go out for break. Those Saturday breaks are much needed.
And on Sundays, get up late and try to spend some time for yourself. Do what you like, analyze about you and just be yourself.
This kind of a methodology will definitely make you love your job plus a little stress free.
One knows how to work, but one always messes up in balancing work life.
Follow this habit and enjoy your life.
Be surrounded by positive energy.

A Chennai Ponnu

Inspired from the movie 'Wake up Sid', I felt there is a lot to write about Chennai than Mumbai. Born as a Marathian, I was bought up in this city breathing its culture. People's eyes get widened in shock when I say I'm a Marathian. Because that's how much I got connected to this city. Starting from pudupettai's local Tamil to the brahmna tamil, I have gained expertise which indeed I'm proud of.
When I pick up my mom's call and talk in Marathi while I'm in the middle of a conversation, there is a sudden silence and they just ask me one question 'okay what did you just say?'. And as always I give a sheepish smile and try to avoid it.

We cook south Indian food all the time in our house. Its spicy when compared to the boring roti and dal.

This city is not what it looks like. This whole gangster and rowdyism is intensified in movies. Chennai is more of a peaceful city. It's a greener place and a safer place for woman. I have been to almost every nook and corner of this city. And every place has a history and a beautiful story behind.
With heavy attachments and connections with this city, I can never step out of it even in my dreams. A Marathi ponnu who is a Madrasi.

The rise in balloon counts

Now that I got your attention from the weird title, hi. When I say balloons, I meant people who are idiots. The number of idiots is increasing nowadays. By idiots, I meant the self proclaiming so called talent people.  These kind of people are like balloons. Balloons look pretty from the outside, but inside its hollow. Nothing but vacuum.

One can't simply keep showing off like they know everything. This is pertaining to directing a film. Being a media student, we were taught some basic aesthetics about how to take a film. Not that one should know all the aesthetics to take a film, but at least should have brushed over it.

When we were asked to take a 10 minute film, the first thing is to make people understand the plot and the characterization in a short period of time. Because since the whole movie is going to be just for 10 minutes, you can't focus on the description of characters more than a minute. Second thing, the dialogues. Every person has his/her way of saying things. But every person makes sure of two things.
One, it shouldn't be boring and second it should make sense.

I have my own style. I prefer using very minimal dialogues or no dialogues at all. My idea is to have a self explanatory film just through actions and expressions. Because the directors must understand that the audience are now smart enough to understand everything. They are capable of judging movies perfectly.

So from my point of view, no need to explain each and everything that's happening in the film. Its better to have a self explanatory concept. Third, the screenplay. One must focus on the story rather than the headers or effects. So here it goes, I know an idiot who took a film. Its a 10 minute film where 5 minutes go for character's monologs. Then three minutes for a song. Then two minutes of story. Its just so stupid.

There was no need for the character description since not even one feature of the characters were shown in the next 5 minutes of the story. Plus in a 10 minute film, who cares if a person is talkative or silent?. Next it is been acted by a bunch of idiots who proclaim that they live in music, die in music by just learning 4 simple chords of a guitar. A song is sung by these idiots in this film. They composed it and say its unique. Well I don't know. Must be the assistants of Harris Jayaraj.
Next are the the dialogues. The way the dialogues are written, logically a normal person or a normal bunch of friends won't talk like that. It was so lame.

So these bunch of idiots discuss among themselves, appreciate among themselves and say that they are pros. These people focus more on the credits of the movie than the story. Because they just direct to show off and get attention from others. These desperate people seeking for attention can actually learn something and then beg for attention. Not by just self proclaiming.

Let me tell you all one thing,
A person with a guitar can't become a guitarist.
A person with a pen can't become a writer.
A person with a camera can't become a photographer.
A person with a chocolate can't become the owner of the chocolate factory.
The talent, the stuff that is inside your brain only matters.
It is sad that people who don't deserve it get the appreciation.
Also when a balloon is blown too much, it will burst.
RIP talent.

From a twig to a tree

Have you ever wondered how such a huge tree can grow from that tiny little seed? How a small twig can divide into branches and branches and become stronger as they grow? Few claim its science, others claim its god. Well I say its power. The power of love and nature. Love binds everything while nature makes it stronger. This is applicable to our human world too. Just like all the other selfish people around here, I joined Bhumi for my own deeds. To use the community service and get my college degree. But once I saw the kids, all the selfish reasons just went up my head.  I felt ashamed of my thought process. But what will I do? I behaved like a normal human being.
I was solemn when I first came to Bhumi. But now, I have a family with 40 kids. The nature simply did its job by introducing me to the kids. The rest is history. The love of these kids is limitless. This love made me stronger and stronger. This love makes us realise how unfair this world is, but also gives the hope that humanity still exists. In the profession of teaching, we exchange knowledge. You not only teach the kids, you will also learn a lot about life. These kids ask simple questions about life that will make you dumbstruck.
And they all have just one single answer for all the questions.
‘Spread love selflessly’
Well, doesn’t this solve all the problems of our life? Ask yourself.
Now I’m happy to say that I’m a tree with 40 strong branches.
Want to be a tree? Spread love like kids.

Drifting apart

A:Hey how is your best friend?
B:Who?
A:(confused) geetha, you both were best friends in school?
B: oh, well we are not talking nowadays!
A: Why not?
B:Well, new place, new friends and we just moved ahead.
A: You both were so true friends. We all used to envy you both.
B: Sigh, i know but things drift apart buddy!
A:I understand, anyways as she is no more, can we both start hanging out and be best friends forever posting pictures?
B: ........................................

Well this has happened to all of us and also did by many, i mean 'ignoring'. How can two people who were very close friends suddenly become strangers as they go to new places and meet new people?
Is it because they became really comfortable with the new ones? So which means they weren't comfortable with their old friends? If they weren't comfortable why would they hang out? Because they had no choice? .

So yes, all these questions are boggling my mind. There is one who used to be a really close friend in school. We both belonged to the same gang. After we joined different colleges and when i called her after a month, she got startled, might have thought 'why the hell is she calling now?'. Who knows. Then i still tried to be in touch with her and  after a point , I felt that she wasn't comfortable. So totally stopped calling and yes we drifted apart.

Even if she calls now and asks for a meet, i would be happily ready to meet with no awkwardness. But the other person should feel the same way too which is only 0.1%. So its that one day we felt really happy hoping everything is back to form and starts calling again.

First call: Heyyyyy!!!! im totally fine. I missed you a lot. We will meet soon
Second call: Hey hi, what's up?
Third call: Uhhhh hi.
Fourth call: Hey i'm sort of busy now, will call you back
Fifth call: tring.....tring.....tring....tring.....tring.....
Sixth call: 'The number you are trying is currently busy. please call again later.. neengal azhaitha.............'
Seventh call:'The number you are trying is currently switched off''
Eighth call: 'The number you are trying is not available'
Ninth call: 'The number you are trying does not exist'
Tenth call:  oh come on! i'm not that desperate.

After few months,
Heyyyyy how are you? we will meet? sorry lost your contact.

And back to square one.

I'm not trying to be desperate but at least i'm making some effort to keep the bond still.
The question is 'Why this sudden discomfort and awkwardness?'
Agreed that people change as their environment changes but change is inevitable.
Accepting the change is what true friends do. Nobody is going to accuse you for the change.

When i go for a walk , i see a lot of old people still hanging out with their friends. I really feel jealous seeing them but at the same time proud that their bond is unbreakable. The people of this generation really dont understand the value of friendship. If one goes, there comes another and this cycle goes on. They cant hold onto the same person for a long time.
Two reasons:
1. They get bored
2. Increase in the population (Man! There are hell lot of people out there!)

So here i'm, stuck in a tightly populated world filled with heartless, emotionless people. How i wish i was born in the 60s.
They might be old, but they are strong.
